blast-off-facebook

If like me, Facebook is all very passe and bores you to death, I have an astronomical solution that will keep your face in Space, quite literally….

Oh, I don’t mean Cyber space, I mean actual Space Space! ….as in stars and the Milky Way, Jupiter, Mars and the Moon and all that.

"Spaceman, I always wanted you go into Space, man...."

NASA is giving you a chance to be a “part of history” (and as far as I can see, it won’t cost you a penny or should I say cent….?!)

They are running a campaign were you can put a picture of yourself “on” one of their two remaining space shuttle missions and launch it into orbit.

To participate, all you have to do is visit the website Face in Space and follow the instructions….
And, if that’s not enough space excitement for you… just return to the site when it’s all over and done with, and everyone is back on solid Earth, and you can print yourself a “Flight Certificate” – a commemorative certificate signed by the Mission Commander him (or her..) self!

(….golly!)

I don’t know about you but I have always possessed a keen desire to see just how San Francisco would look if it were to be moulded out of Jelly…. (or Jell-O as our Transatlantic friends call it…) My prayers have been answers! No longer the stuff of my imagination, it is in fact reality…thanks to artist Liz Hickok
She creates scale models of architectural elements, out of which she makes the moulds for the jelly, adds backdrops and dramatically lights the scenes from the back or underneath. Unfortunatly, given the nature of jelly, Liz’s hard work doesn’t last very long…Just click on the photo to see more fab photos… moulding a city out of jelly is one mean feat….

Just found this great free application that converts any digital photograph into an instant Polaroid-style classic! Although you can’t beat the original Polaroid cameras, it’s pretty impressive how easy it is to do and how realistic the results are.

Let me introduce you, if you don’t know already, to the wonderful world of Holga cameras. The Holga camera is a cheapo, 120 film, ‘toy’ camera with a big cult following down to it’s low-fidelity aesthic.

I bought mine about a year or so ago from having a look around the lomography website. It seemed a great way to get into experimenting with lo-fi photography and not knowing what results I’m going to get until they’ve returned from the developers. The more light leaks, blur, vignetting and multiple exposures on each frame then the better! I’m a big fan of the way that they look nostalgic in an instant, without the need for any Photoshop jiggery pokery.

Here’s a shot of my kiddy winks from my latest roll I got developed today:

and here is a few more I’ve done.

Take a look at this picture from Barrack Obamas inauguration, apparently it is 1447 megapixels, Nasa technology at its finest, you can zoom in to see every face clearly.

Pretty handy for the CIA to see who attended, incase anything happened.

id-love-to-get-hold-of-a-copy

Today sees the launch of the new Condé Nast magazine, LOVE.
I’ve got to say Beth Ditto looks incredibly fab, comfortable and confident on the front cover…
It’s a refreshing change to see a scantily-clad woman on the front of a fashion mag who isn’t ‘conforming’ to the waist or weight constraits of the industry…
Ok, yes, it’s been called un-original because she’s done it before for NME, but personally I much prefer this version, it’s much more glamourous.

Whatever your opinion of Ms Ditto, you can’t deny she strikes the ‘pose’ well and I’m sure she will contribute to news-stand sell out…in perhaps what is deemed to be an already saturated market. Speaking of sell-outs, I’m going to see if I can bag myself a copy on the way home….

dinnertime-took-a-turn-for-the-worst

After a productive morning in the studio.. it all turned sour!

I was just about to tuck into my sandwiches when I found my face
being dragged quite vigorously into my screen.. I think this was a
result of not moving away from my computer for three full hours…

I pulled through, but as I looked to my left I noticed Alex had a
slight problem_ something bizarre had happened to him… his
hair and head just wouldn’t stop getting bigger and his mouth
kind of locked. This morning he had brought with him a crazy
looking new hair spray. We all warned him not to use it as bad
things would probably happen. But he snuck off to use it anyway…

I looked even further left and noticed Ben had taken a
turn for the worst… He had a weird painful grin on his
face and his head kept drifting onto his desk. This served
him right though because he had been sneakily drinking
Ollie’s soya milk in his coffee all morning, even though it
made the coffee curdle.

Thankfully, everything went back to normal in time
